churches, kaleidoscopes, nature and food

Monstrance (Monstranz in german) is one of the names of an extremely over the top shiny object used in Roman/Old Catholic churches which I became obsessed with before I even knew what they were. Other names are ostensorium and ostensory. An object like that in a church made as much sense to me then as millionaire pastors now.
